Aalborg University (AAU) (https://www.en.aau.dk/) offers education and research within the fields of natural sciences, social sciences, humanities, technical and health science. AAU currently consolidates and further develops its profile as a dynamic and innovative research and educational institution. AAU is characterized by combining a keen engagement in local, regional, and national issues with an active commitment to international collaboration. AAU awards Bachelors, Master’s, Ph.D. and Doctoral degrees in various fields within the different programs with more than 19.000 (13% international) students enrolled. Department of Chemistry and Bioscience does research within a broad field of chemistry and bioscience. Especially the research concerns biotechnological solutions within the biorefining area utilizing agricultural and industrial residues and waste, while combining fundamental biotechnology with bioprocess engineering: pre-treatment methods, protein extraction, microbial biocatalysts for producing value-added compounds, fermentation and separation techniques as well as biogas production. The overall aim is to develop biochemical
conversion of biomass and waste streams for the sustainable production of enzymes, chemicals, 2G fuels, materials and feed- and food-ingredients. A great effort is made within extraction of proteins from biomass for the development of Green Biorefineries.
